Real Estate Purchase & Facility Expansion Proposal
We are excited to announce that GBC has the opportunity to purchase a 3.95 acre parcel of land to our west to be used for parking! Additionally, the architectural plans for a three-story building that will alleviate the overcrowding in our Children's Ministry and Youth areas has moved into the construction drawing phase and if approved, will break ground in Spring 2026.
If you are a partner or regular attender at GBC, we hope you will take a minute to look through the slideshow below and let us know if you have any questions or concerns. On Sunday, August 17 we will gather after each service for a congregational meeting and partner vote on three items which are detailed in the slideshow.
In the meantime, we'd love to hear from you! Please contact west@gbchouston.org or contact@gbchouston.org and we will get back to you before we gather on the 17.
ROAD REPAIRS
The City of Houston project to widen Hurst Street is well under way. Thank you for your patience and flexibility getting to and from church on Thursdays and Sundays! The project is expected to take 60-90 days and the best route into the church will change as the project progresses. We will post the best way in and out of church here each week.
Please check the website before heading out on Thursday or Sunday.
The City of Houston has moved to phase 2 of the Hurst Street construction project, which means we have two entrances for a while (middle driveway is closed)! Please follow the lead of the faithful guys who are directing traffic.
WAYS TO HELP
SIGN-UP TO SERVE ON THE PARKING TEAM
With this construction, we need help directing traffic! If you are able, consider signing up to serve on a Sunday. We will need help with the morning services, and then you can attend the 5pm service.
Sign-up HERE.OTHER THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP THIS SUMMER
- Come early to whichever service you plan to attend (Children's Ministry is available starting 15 minutes before the service).
- Consider carpooling with friends or family members. What a great way to build in extra fellowship on Sundays!
- Think about joining us for the 5 PM service this summer. It has grown substantially but there is still plenty of parking for that service!
- Follow the instructions of the parking volunteers, even if it isn’t exactly what you want to do.
- PRO TIP: Consider parking at the 11th Street Park (across 11th on Shirkmere). You’ll get a short walk and avoid traffic upon departure.
- Remember that you represent Jesus when you drive through and park in neighborhoods. Don’t speed, block driveways, or inhibit traffic flow by parking on both sides of the road.
- When stuck in traffic, pray for our church, our leadership, and our disciple-making efforts.
