GBC exists to glorify God by making disciples who transform the world.
With plans to plant a disciple-making church in West's hometown, the Brazelton's moved their family from Mammoth Lakes, California, to Houston in the fall of 2002. Following this move, West began forming a core group of friends and family who were excited about church planting and discipleship. This small group met on Sunday evenings in West and Mary’s home for six months. Then, in September 2003, they started meeting on Sunday mornings for worship services at a movie theater.
This small group of committed people launched Grace Bible Church intending to glorify God by making disciples who transform the world. In the past 20 years, we’ve seen God faithfully build His Kingdom through our disciple-making efforts. We started in a home, moved to a movie theater, and then in 2006 moved into the church at 1111 W 14th Street in the Heights. In 2014, we relocated to our current building on Hurst Street.
As a church, our commitment to disciple-making influences all we do. We see this as the intentional and relational process through which a person is equipped and mobilized into God's kingdom work. We believe that Christians experience God most profoundly when they use their gifts to participate in His ministry. For those who consider GBC their church home, this process takes place in three settings: Corporate Worship, Small Groups, and Service.
