SEPTEMBER 2025
MINISTRY PARTNERS
Small Steps: Provides exemplary early childhood education through social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth of economically at-risk children and their families. Pray for the students as they start a new school year to feel safe and welcome at school. Pray the faculty and staff would share God’s love to students and parents in a profound way. Pray for the upcoming GBC Shoe Drive the month of September. Pray that it would provide shoes for all the students, and for new volunteers for their in-school Buddy Program.
Open Door Mission: A faith and evidence-based recovery and rehabilitation program and facility dedicated to transforming the lives of the most severely addicted, destitute, homeless, and disabled men in our community. Pray for men on the streets who are asking God to give them courage to seek ODM’s help. Pray for the men in the program to experience God's profound and unchanging love. Pray for their new CEO, Brandan Thomas, and his family as they adjust to his new role and their new home in Houston.
Every Shelter: Support refugees in their displacement. Pray for the “Design School” that has 18 refugees committed to finding shelter solutions for them and their neighbors (protection from mosquitoes, purified water, strengthening their bricks, and more durable roofs). Pray specifically for the group working on an alarm system to prevent gender based violence against women as they walk through settlements. Pray that God would protect the vulnerable living in refugee camps.
Lauderdales: James and Julie serve in leadership roles with Reach Global, the missions sending agency of our denomination the EFCA. After 30 years living and ministering overseas (15 in Kiev, Ukraine, and 15 in Budapest, Hungary), they are moving back to Texas this month. Pray for them to settle well back into life in the US, and for continued fruitfulness in ministry as they support and lead ministry workers all over the world.
WITHIN THE CHURCH
GBC Small Groups: Pray that our Small Groups would seek to truly understand and apply God’s Word. That relationships built would be meaningful and lasting, and empower effective disciple-making inside and outside of the church.
Children’s Ministry: Praise God for all the people who have signed up to serve on Sundays! Pray that the children of GBC would hear the gospel and come to follow Jesus as they learn about Him and encounter the body of Christ each week.
Men’s Fellowship Dinner (9/26): Pray this would be an opportunity for the men of our church to enjoy fellowship together through dinner, sports, and meaningful conversations. Pray that folks attending would leave the dinner with new connections in the church and for clarity for the next step they can take toward relationships.
AS SCRIPTURE TEACHES US TO PRAY
“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16). Lord, you are gracious and sovereign on your throne. Help us come to you in times of need, and not to seek help from the world or its ways. Help us to enjoy and embrace the mercy you afford through the work of Jesus. May we be encouraged by your provision in our need.
