Small Steps: Provides exemplary early childhood programs to foster the social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth of economically at-risk children and their families. Pray for their students as they start a new school year, that they would feel safe and welcome at school. Pray the faculty and staff would share God’s love with students and parents in a tangible way. Pray for the annual GBC Shoe Drive this month, that it would provide shoes for all the students, and pray for new volunteers for their in-school Buddy Program this year.

Prestige Learning Institute: Facilitates quality ESL education for adult immigrants in Houston while building relationships to teach people about Christ. Pray for the kids in the after-school program to hear about Jesus and feel free to ask questions and grow in their understanding. Pray for the women who are genuinely seeking God to find Jesus. Pray for men as the reality of a long, difficult road toward economic stability sets in. Pray that they would have courage to seek truth as they hear about Jesus’ love, and that they would respond to the gospel.

YoungLife: Shares the gospel with adolescents and helps them grow in their faith. Pray for volunteer leaders as they enter schools across Houston and build relationships with students, that they might have joy and endurance. Pray for students to understand and respond to the invitation to follow Jesus. 

Africa New Life Ministry: ANLM works to help families send their children to school and plants churches in Rwanda. Pray that the church and community center in Nyanza would be a place where people find truth, hope, healing, and rest. Pray for more students to receive sponsorship so they can attend school. 

Leah Townsend: Leah is sharing the gospel with university students in Brisbane, Australia, through CampusOutreach. Pray that Leah’s team would remember God’s goodness and faithfulness as they face a lot of recent rejection in their ministry. Pray that their CO team would be earnest in evangelism and that God would call Australian students to Himself.

WITHIN THE CHURCH

GBC Small Groups: Pray that our Small Groups would seek to truly understand and apply God’s Word. Pray that relationships built would be meaningful and lasting, and empower effective disciple-making inside and outside of the church.

AS SCRIPTURE TEACHES US TO PRAY

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16). Lord, you are gracious and sovereign on your throne. Help us to come to you in times of need, and not to seek help from the world or its ways. Help us to enjoy and embrace the mercy you afford through the work of your Son Jesus. May we be encouraged by your provision in our need.
