Ministry Partners
Small Steps: Exemplary early childhood program for social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth of economically at-risk children and their families. Pray for the teachers and administration as they adjust to more students and classes than before. Pray for the students to feel settled in classrooms, and for proper attention to go toward behavioral issues they are seeing more of. Pray that God would meet physical, spiritual, and mental needs for all the families and children a part of this community.
Heights Wyldlife: Brings the good news of Jesus Christ into the lives of adolescents, and helps them grow in their faith. Praise God for a growing middle school ministry with Wyldlife at Hogg and Hamilton Middle School. Pray that God would raise up dedicated and consistent volunteers to invest in these students, and that Wyldlife would be a safe and secure place for these students to feel the love of Christ.
St. Ebbes: A church in Oxford, England with a ministry to university students. Praise God for a large crowd of freshmen, pray that they would continue to show up. Pray they would have wisdom in teaching the students, effective outreach, and effective equipping of students to evangelize. Pray for the 300 new postgrads who recently attended a Welcome Dinner, and that God would lead more Mandarin-speaking students to their postgrad gathering.
Bridges International: Exists to connect with and serve international students studying at university campuses in Houston. Pray for the international students here in Houston that have connected with Bridges to continue hearing the gospel and building relationships. Pray that they would be welcomed into a Christian American home during the holidays and experience the gratitude and hope we have in Christ.
The Meyers: Brent has been leading a Catalan-speaking church planted in the Barcelona neighborhood of Gràcia. Pray for Brent and Ellie as they leave the church and community they have built in Barcelona and move to the US. Pray that God would provide a job and church home for them in Seattle. Pray that the Catalan-speaking church would continue to grow in Barcelona, and that the seeds planted during their time there would continue to grow.
WITHIN THE CHURCH
Turkey Trot (Nov. 22): Let’s ask God for wonderful weather! Pray that this would be a great opportunity for fellowship and sharing the community of GBC with new people.
Elementary Volunteers: Pray that God would raise up volunteers for the 5pm service to invest in our Elementary kids.
AS SCRIPTURE TEACHES US TO PRAY
"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way" (1 Tim. 2:1-2). We confess that we are unable to lead godly, dignified lives without your grace. Lord, help us to faithfully pray for the officials in our local, state, and national governments. In your mercy, allow them to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with you (Micah 6:8).
