UPDATED
Benno and Jan Bauer
Updated 12/16/25
Jan was at Methodist ER on San Felipe this week. She has been experiencing weakness in her legs and trouble with her gait. Imaging showed a blockage in her neck, so she was transferred by ambulance to Methodist Medical Center for a brain MRI to rule out any brain damage. They discovered she has had several mini small strokes, and believe its related to her cholesterol. She is back home now and on a new medication. Please pray for peace for Jan and their family, and for complete healing.
8/24/25
Benno has been diagnosed with Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy. It’s a rare neurodegenerative disorder that affects movement, balance & speech. There is no cure and more tests are scheduled. Prayers for peace for him and his wife Jan as they process and move forward with testing. Mid November he was diagnosed with Parkinsons. Pray as he and Jan seek further medical evaluation, clarity on the diagnosis, and a wise treatment plan. Please lift up Benno’s healing, strength for Jan as she cares for him, and that the Lord would use this season to draw their hearts closer to Christ.

Courtney Hammon
Updated 12/16/25
She went to the ER last night where they found some small bowel ileus (a slow down of the bowel). They are going to put an NG tube in her nose to keep her stomach empty. Between the fluids and no material going into her digestive tract, the hope is the bowel will start to move again on its own. Pray her bowel starts moving, doesn't obstruct, and they can go home soon.
10/1/25
Courtney has a large (but accessible) cyst on her left ovary, which they believe may be stuck to the small intestine. She has lots of scar tissue from previous conditions and surgeries, so a surgery could be risky for her bowels (potentially resulting in her waking up with an ileostomy). Surgery is scheduled for 12/8 at MD Anderson, and she'll be hospitalized for 3-5 days. Pray the cyst would not be cancerous and the surgeons would be able to do their job in a way that does not further damage her bowels. She ended up in the ER on Nov 1st with intestinal bleeding. She was admitted, but was ultimately released and still cleared for surgery. The cyst/left ovary and fallopian tube removal went well! The cyst was about the size of a softball, but was benign! They expect her to heal well.

Ruthie Lewis
Updated 12/18/25
Ruthie has been in the hospital for a week fighting an infection. She has been receiving high dose antibiotics and has endured numerous painful tests and procedures. Ruthie is a 4 year old little warrior and has been fighting so hard. Despite what cancer has been thrown at her, Ruthie always seems to find a reason to smile. Please pray for sweet Ruthie, and her body's ability to heal. Pray for doctor's wisdom. Pray for her parents as they endure all of this together, and pray that God would financial provide for them as they've had so many medical and house expenses as of late.
10/7/25
Ruthie Lewis (4 years old) was diagnosed with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue cancer, last November. She has completed 42 weeks of frontline chemo, and is in the maintenance phase currently. At this point in her treatment, she has no evidence of disease! The family is continuing to ask the Lord to protect her body from the harsh chemo, and to spare her from any recurrence or long-term side effects.

FOSTERING FAMILIES
Aaron and Heather Brisendine are fostering Estephany, May 2025
The Brisendine’s are in a growth group this year, have two biological children, and have been fostering 2 year old Estephany the past 5 months. The next case hearing is November 4th. Pray for more clarity about whether her bio mom is legitimate and whether she will be reunified with her. Pray that no matter what, baby girl will be safe throughout the whole process.
Helen and Bryan Moon adopted Jackson and fostering Dylan 8/25/23
Updated 12/18/25
They adopted Dylan last Thursday! Praise for the official addition of him to their family.
Details:
Dylan was placed with their family at just 3 weeks old. He bonded well with big brother Jackson, and has a great team working on his care. Parental rights were terminated and they are able to move towards adoption with Dylan. They have settled his ethnicity so he can receive subsidy payments now. Pray for patience as they are still working with his caseworker on subsidy paperwork and trying to time when family can attend for adoption day. His new name will be Dylan Daniel Moon! Pray as they begin renovations on their home and consider timing for growing their family. Pray for the new CPA case manager assigned to them.

Sarah and Zach Kirk started fostered/adoption Miles (6/23/23, 12/18/25)
Updated 12/18
Pray for their day as they officially adopt Ny'el and give him the name Miles!
Details:
The Kirks started fostering a 5 year old boy named Ny'el. They've had several road bumps with his mom, but ultimately the judge terminated parental rights in December. Ny’el’s having a lot of anxiety and started bedwetting again. They have seen a urologist, may require pelvic floor therapy, potentially doing a sleep study, and might consider anxiety medication for him as well. He was able to get into a new TF-CBT therapy, and are seeing more behavior problems emerge at home as he’s having to revisit the trauma from his past. They received the adoption date of 12/18. Prayers that everything goes smoothly leading up to it.

Alex & Becky Massey – started fostering Kingsley, 12/2024
Updated 10/11/15
Kingsley’s biological parents gave several names of possible caregivers that CPS will now need to investigate to see if they are willing/able to care for him. Because of this his case has been extended until April 13th. The next permanency conference is on December 15th. Prayers they love Kingsley well and have peace in the waiting.
Details:
Their foster care application was delayed due to home construction. They finally got their first placement with 3 month old Kingsley! They are thankful for a great caseworker. Pray for his hand deformity and access to good PT. They were told in April (2025) Kingsley will be leaving their house. Since then, safety concerns arose with the birth dad, and the attorney and CASA are opposed to moving him, but CPS does not agree. They are now waiting to see if there are other biological family members to consider as placement options. Prayers for their hearts in the waiting as well as protection from any appeals that may happen if rights are terminated

They were able to move into their new home, but it was the same weekend Molly’s dad passed away. Pray for them as they try to get settled in their new home amidst grief and heaviness.
Details:
They had been waiting to adopt Aiden for quite a while, with CPS rescheduling the placement date 5 times. Praise they were able to finally adopt him! Pray for his health related to allergies and severe eczema flares. They welcomed their biological baby in April – prayers for peace in the overwhelming moments of having four littles and needing more space.

Ron's brother, Craig, passed away this morning. He had a second brain bleed and heart attack a few days prior and was put on life support. Specifically pray for Ron to feel free of the belief that he could have done something to stop this.

Paige Threadgill, 12/5/25

Chris and Summer Husband and Family
Updated 12/8/25
Skyler was picked up from school and is now at Kingwood Pines. CPS reached out to see if he could go to the Husband's house from there, but the expectation is that he needs to commit to abiding by rules, going to class, not damaging the house, etc. and he is unwilling to do so. If CPS cannot find him a spot after his in-residential treatment, Skyler's mom will have to choose between losing custody of Skyler or her youngest, special needs son. She has repeatedly said she will give up custody of Skylar. Pray that Skyler would hear the soft voice of God, and provision for where he goes next. Pray for Summer and Chris to have unity and peace in their decisions.
12/23/24
Please pray for the Husbands to have wisdom, clarity, and peace as they welcome a young man named Skyler into their home. They have been encouraging him in Christ's love, bringing him to GBC youth, and taking him to counseling. He would still miss his mom a lot, but visits typically exploded, which hurt him a lot. As of late September he had been doing really well. Passing classes, doing well in football, and no major behavioral issues. Mid November, he had been skipping and failing classes, and things were not going well with him at the Husband's house. He left their home, wasn't responsive, and ran away from his mom again. The Husbands aren't sure where he is staying and have laid out what he needs to do to stay with them again, but he hasn't showed interest in taking him up on that.

Laurie Daniels
Updated 12/11/25
Everything with Laurie's last surgery went extremely well. Kidney and bladder look healthy! They will be removing right side drain tube tomorrow, and the left kidney drain is gone. They are thankful she was able to make two laps around the floor without a walker!
11/17/25
Laurie has had 4 kidney surgeries since August, and has another one coming in December. Pray that she continues to recover well, and the next and last surgery goes smoothly. Laure's dad also passed away (he was 104!) on November 6th, so they have felt overwhelmed with all that is going on.

Matt Martone, 12/1/25
Matt lost his dad early this morning. He had been sick for a long time. Pray for the family as they grieve his loss, and especially for his mom, Diane, as she adjusts to life without him. Prayers that through this Matt's brothers, John and James, would come to believe and trust in God.
Staff/Elder: West
Amin Etemadifar, 12/2/25
Amin has two migration applications (one based on employment and one based on asylum) that are in danger of being denied. After the recent shooting in Washington DC, new regulations have put a stop on approving asylums for an unlimited time for specific countries, including Iran. He has felt a lot of worry about being sent back to Iran where he will likely spend the rest of his life in prison or under persecution. Pray that God would bring him peace, and would open a door for him to stay safely in the US.

Autumn Hugo's dad, John
Updated 12/3/25
The scans showed that the treatment is working! The lung lesions are shrinking and some of the lymph nodes in his chest that were affected are completely healed. He will have his next treatment in January!
12/18/24
Autumn's dad had several small strokes and found lung cancer, which they think must be the source of the strokes. Prayers for healing from the stroke damage, and strength as he starts PT and OT. He was working with a functional oncologist who was treating his lung cancer with some some alternative therapies, but have now decided to go ahead and start with chemo. Pray for John’s body to endure the chemo and doctors’ wisdom on any changes needed in protocol. Prayers for effective treatment, for his comfort, and for peace over him and the family. Prayers for wisdom and unity for Autumn and Heather and their mom (Suzann) as they discuss how to best manage his care. John had scans on Saturday Nov 15th, and they are now waiting results.

Marshall’s younger brother, Matt, has been struggling recently with apparent mental health issues. Matt unsuccessfully attempted suicide last week. He is heading into a treatment facility in Houston today (11/17/25). Prayers for Matt to know Jesus, for a good medical assessment of his situation, and for comfort for the entire family as they try to figure out how to best help Matt.

Oliver Seidman
Updated 11/12/25
Oliver is doing well and will receive his prosthetic before Thanksgiving! Pray that he quickly adapts without pain or discomfort as he embraces this new reality. Pray that God instills in him, even at a young age, a deep sense of his worth in Christ, beyond outward appearances. Pray he trusts in the Lord's sovereignty in how he is uniquely created.
9/17/25
Oliver is a one year old and had a left ankle symes amputation in Dallas. The surgery went well! He is moving around and doesn't seem to be in much pain. They will go to Dallas Several times over the next few months to checkups, and hopeful Oliver will get a prosthetic before the year ends. Pray that Skyler and Ale would have peace and wisdom about the road ahead as they figure out appointments for prosthetics and PT.

Jessica Marshall's mom
11/12/25
Jessica's mom rang the bell yesterday for her last radiation. She should be heading home tomorrow. They will wait 2-3 months to see if the tumor has shrunk at all. Pray for her recovery and for the treatment to be effective!
10/29/25
Jessica's mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 anal cancer in September. She has finished chemo and is almost done with radiation at this point. They are thankful for Jessica's aunt who is a radiologist and has been hosting Jessica's mom while she's getting treatment here in Houston. The chemo took a lot out of her, so prayers that her body would recover. She was suppose to go home next week, but her WBC count was low, and they are postponing her final radiation treatment. Pray that she would be able to go home by November 15th, and that all of the treatment would be effective!

Baumgarten Family
Updated 10/20/25
The cataract surgery was successful and went according to plan! The retina was not detached, so they only had to do blood vessel repair. Pray that his eyes would totally heal, and that glaucoma wouldn't develop. They will continue to monitor blood flow behind his eyes, so prayers that this continues to improve and normalize.
9/3/25
Stephen and Meg just had their baby, Beau, and found out he has a significant sight threatening issue with his left eye. The cataract is so dense in his eye they cannot see behind it to figure out what's going on. He will have surgery October 13th to remove the cataract, and are thankful the retina in the left eye is not detached. They also found some abnormal blood vessels in his right eye, and did a laser procedure to help dissipate these. Recent MRI showed that the blood vessels completely went away! Praise God!

Jules Hinson
Updated 10/9/25
Her brother in law is not doing well. The cancer has spread throughout his body and he isn't expected to survive much longer (have event talked about hospice). John is a Christian, but is not at peace with death at this point and doesn't understand why God would do this. They have three children (10,9, 7). His wife, Carol, has really strong faith and seems to be navigating this well. Prayers that John would cling to the Lord and have peace with the outcome. Prayers for Carol to have strength and receive encouragement. Prayers for the children as they come to grips with likely losing their father.
9/22/25

Car Rides for Barbara
Barbara, an elderly woman who lives near the church, is in a wheelchair, and depends on others to get her to the 10:45 service to worship on Sundays. For the past few months, Mike Tosoni has been the only person signing up. Wes and Stacie have been trying to recruit people, but come up short with every attempt to find people willing to consistently do this. Please pray we could find 8 people or couples who would be able to joyfully do this!
